Authorities Temporarily Shut Naran and Babusar Top Amid Heavy Snowfall and Unsafe Roads

Muhammad Naeem:

Islamabad:In light of heavy snowfall and treacherous road conditions, authorities have temporarily closed popular tourist destinations Naran and Babusar Top. The Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra has issued an advisory urging tourists to avoid travel to these areas and nearby high-altitude locations.

“We strongly advise visitors to refrain from traveling to Naran, Babusar Top, and surrounding regions as road conditions have become extremely hazardous due to ongoing snowfall,” stated the DC. “Instead, tourists can safely explore accessible destinations such as Shogran and Balakot.”

The snowfall has severely impacted mobility, particularly in Batakundi, Naran, and Babusar Top, with Babusar Top being completely shut down. Travelers attempting to proceed beyond Batakundi are being turned back for their safety.

The district administration has advised tourists planning trips to the northern areas to call the tourism department’s helpline (1422) to check the latest weather and road conditions before embarking on their journeys.

As temperatures in the Naran Kaghan Valley plummet below freezing, the region has been officially closed to tourists for the winter season, which typically spans from late November to March. Naran generally welcomes visitors from spring to early November, with harsh winter conditions rendering the area inaccessible during the colder months.

Emergency services remain active to assist those already en route or in need of updates. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further announcements as necessary.
