Internet shutdown necessary for security reasons: Shaza Fatima

Islamabad: Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, acknowledged that temporary internet shutdowns might be required to address security and law-and-order challenges.
Speaking to the media, she emphasized the government’s priority to ensure public safety and maintain peace, even if it necessitates short-term disruptions in digital connectivity.
Fatima reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to minimize internet outages and enhance reliability. She highlighted the installation of four new undersea cables, set to significantly boost Pakistan’s internet infrastructure and improve access across the country.
The Minister stressed the importance of balancing security needs with uninterrupted internet services, ensuring the IT sector and public conveniences remain largely unaffected.
