“1st National Tourism Awards of Excellence Celebrates Pakistan’s Tourism Progress on World Tourism Day 2024”

Islamabad:The inaugural National Tourism Awards of Excellence, themed “Celebrating Peace through Tourism,” was held in Islamabad with great enthusiasm. Organized by Discover Pakistan and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), the event marked World Tourism Day 2024.
The 1st National Tourism Awards of Excellence, organized by Discover Pakistan and PTDC, took place in Islamabad on World Tourism Day 2024, with the theme “Celebrating Peace through Tourism.” Over 300 participants, including diplomats, government officials, and private sector stakeholders, attended the event. Awards were presented to individuals and organizations making significant contributions to Pakistan’s tourism and hospitality sectors, selected by an independent jury.
Chief Guest Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, highlighted Pakistan’s tourism progress, emphasizing its rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes. He stressed the need for policy continuity to develop the tourism industry and reiterated government support for the sector. PTDC Managing Director Aftab Rana praised Discover Pakistan for launching the awards and emphasized the role of tourism in economic growth and combating terrorism. Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, noted increased foreign investment in Pakistan’s tourism industry and called for showcasing the country’s soft image globally.
The event, supported by provincial tourism departments, celebrated tourism’s potential to promote peace, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
