Party Positions in Pakistan’s National Assembly Reshuffled Following Speaker’s Directive

News Desk:
islamabad:A significant reshuffling of party positions in Pakistan’s National Assembly has been announced following a letter from Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to the Election Commission of Pakistan. The reshuffle, revealed by the National Assembly Secretariat on September 18, reflects a notable change in political alignments.
One of the key developments is the reclassification of 80 members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who were previously categorized as ‘Independent’ candidates. These members are now listed under the Sunni Ittehad Council, marking a shift in the political landscape of the opposition.
The updated distribution of seats presents a clearer picture of the current government and opposition benches. On the government side, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) holds 110 seats, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has 69 members, while the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) controls 22 seats.
Several smaller parties also hold a presence in the assembly. The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has five seats, and the Muslim League-Zia holds one seat. Additionally, the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and the National Party each retain one seat.
On the opposition side, the Sunni Ittehad Council now leads with 80 seats. They are joined by eight members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), along with eight independent members who are supported by the PTI.
This reshuffling highlights the evolving political dynamics within Pakistan’s National Assembly as the parties adjust their alignments ahead of future political challenges.
