Balochistan’s rising Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) star, Shahzaib Rind, has made history by becoming the first martial arts world champion from Pakistan. The 26-year-old defeated Brazil’s Bruno Roberto De Assie in the final of the Karate Combat Championship (KC-49) held in Singapore on Wednesday.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Rind shared the proud moment, stating, “Dream Came True.” Alongside the tweet, he posted a photo with the championship belt, celebrating his historic achievement.
In his post, Rind expressed, “History has been made.” He acknowledged the difficulty of the fight but credited his perseverance and the prayers of his supporters. “This was a very tough fight at the start, but I had hope, and with all your prayers, I fought till the end and became world champion for Pakistan,” he tweeted.
Rind also took to Instagram, reflecting on his journey. “It was a long and challenging journey, but we did it,” he wrote, giving special thanks to his coach for the physical, emotional, and training support. “You are not just a coach, but a brother and mentor,” he added.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, also congratulated Rind, praising his achievement and expressing pride in his accomplishment. In a message on X, she wished him continued success and called on Pakistanis to support him.
Shahzaib Rind, an MMA fighter and six-time national champion, had previously competed in the United States’ premier full-contact striking league, Karate Combat. Speaking to The Express Tribune a few months ago, Rind expressed his ambition to become a world champion, a goal he has now proudly achieved.
