Islamabad: “Pakistan Delegation Joins ‘Shahrisabz – ECO Tourism Capital 2024’ Celebrations in Uzbekistan”
Led by Salman Javed, Senior Board Member of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Convener of the Tourism Committee in FPCCI, a Pakistani delegation has arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the ‘Shahrisabz – ECO Tourism Capital for 2024’ celebrations from April 25 to 27.
The inauguration of Shahrisabz as the “Tourism Capital” of ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization) includes various events such as the ECO Tourism Forum, nomad games, gastronomy competitions, and cultural showcases. These events aim to highlight the rich culture and heritage of ECO countries while promoting cooperation in the field of tourism among member states.
The Pakistani delegation, consisting of tourism experts, artists, media personalities, and culinary experts, will take part in a series of events including a cooking competition, a modest fashion show, and the International Folk Festival.
The spokesperson of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) highlighted that the delegation aims to strengthen people-to-people contact and cultural exchange between participating countries, focusing on ECO Region Tourism cooperation.
Designers from ECO Member States will showcase their creativity in the “Modest Fashion Show”, while chefs specializing in national dishes and desserts will compete in the “Shahrisabz Cooking Competition”.
Additionally, ethno-sports athletes and folk artists from various countries will participate in the first International Nomad Games and the “International Folk Festival” of the ECO region respectively.
The official opening ceremony of the “Shahrisabz 2024 – ECO Tourism Capital” events is scheduled to take place today in the Historical Center of Shahrisabz, Uzbekistan.
This initiative aims to strengthen friendships between member states and promote cross-cultural understanding through various festival events and exhibitions. From March 27 to April 6, plein-air artists visited the historic cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Shahrisabz, reflecting the enduring allure of Uzbekistan’s ancient cities through their artistry.
