In response to severe smog conditions, the Punjab government has issued a mandate requiring citizens to wear face masks when venturing outdoors in 10 districts. Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared the notification from the provincial health department on X, formerly Twitter.
According to the notification, the face mask mandate will be enforced in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin from November 20 to November 26.
“The Punjab Government announces a 1-week mandate for wearing face masks for all citizens in smog-affected districts of Punjab. Prioritizing health is our collective responsibility. Please adhere to the guidelines for a safer community,” Naqvi stated.
The notification highlighted that this measure aims to prevent and control airborne diseases in the province.
